Kitchens

A kitchen remodel goes best when you start with how you actually use the room, not with a countertop sample. A few honest answers up front help a remodeler give you a more useful ballpark and keep decisions from piling up later.
Start with what isn’t working
Write down the daily frustrations. Is there too little storage? Is the sink so close to the dishwasher that both can’t be open at once? Is there nowhere to sit? Specific problems point toward specific solutions, and they matter more than a style board.
Think through the layout
Layout is the biggest lever in a kitchen. Notice how you move between the sink, stove and refrigerator, where people gather while you cook, and what gets in the way. Moving a sink or adding an island can change how the room works more than any finish.
Plan storage and surfaces
Cabinets, pantry space and countertops are where daily use shows up. Think about what you store, how much counter you want to keep clear, and which surfaces suit your household. Your remodeler can walk you through options and how they affect budget and schedule.
Set a comfortable budget range
Be ready to share a range you are comfortable with. A remodeler can only tell you what is realistic if they know it. In a design-build process you get an initial ballpark first, a more specific one after the home visit, and final pricing before construction begins.

A few common questions
Should I choose finishes before calling a remodeler?
No. A phone call and a rough sense of your goals, timing and budget is enough for an initial ballpark.
Will I have to make every decision at once?
It shouldn’t feel that way. Design, 3D renderings and selections are developed in an organized order, so decisions come one at a time.
